Firstly, we were asked to help raise some funds as part of small business money raising for a charity that helps with the hospital costs of children with illnesses, so of course we accepted and we’ve taken a pound from each entry plus a couple of donations from customers so we’ve exceeded the £50 suggested and got to £80 so thank you all for your help with that.

We were expecting a hard day, with the fishing in general not being the best recently, add to that winds that were not ideal for 80% of local hotspots, and the outlook wasn’t the best. If this wasn’t already the rearranged date as the last was called off through bad weather I may have pulled this one too.

Nevertheless, undeterred by the not ideal conditions all 54 of us did what we do best, we persevered and adapted our approach as the day went on, and sure enough the troops came up with the goods. Not all that many goods 🤣 but enough to drive us on.

The highlight of the day was definitely seeing my fishing buddy Mike catch a 6lb 9oz tank off the surface on a white patchinko (of course) just seconds after I was goading him with a 3-pounder I’d caught 🤦🏻. A truly awesome fish from the harbour especially off the top!! And in the bass chase is the cherry on the top!

A few high 50s backed this up on the charts, and one of those was caught by our new champion Rob Moore who put together a 3 fish total of 148cm.

A very hard day where only the toughest (craziest) survived the duration.

Thank you for the support, bring on the bass challenge!!
