Creature baits such as Sleeper Craws, Dark Sleepers and all the other life like soft baits, are certainly not new kids on the block. They have been around for many years; across the pond, they’ve been using them for their freshwater bass, and in fact, even perch anglers here use them to great effect.
In recent years, the UK bass lure fishing has exploded, and the curve of invention and experiment to success has been steep! We’re now at the point where there doesn’t really seem to be an on/off season; it’s more about different approaches at different stages through the year.

At this time of the year, the bass are fewer in number, no doubt, but of a good, solid stamp. They’re not looking to be chasing fast-moving surface prey; it’s much more about slurping up slow-moving bottom-feeding/dwelling bait.
This is where these lures are most effective, from gobies creeping along the bottom, to claw-waving crab/craw like baits sitting in the defensive position with the odd hop or twitch to gain attention.
